selkie • Skottisk mytologi: skapning som kan skifte mellom sel og menneske. Det skottiske ordet selkie er en diminutiv av selch som betyr havert (Halichoerus grypus). Parallelle skapninger finnes i norsk, færøysk og islandsk folketro.
